Moments

Inner awakening is when our minds are able to remain anchored in the present moment, unburdened by the past and free from anxiety about the future.

It is precisely because we first possess the capacity for happiness that we are able to enjoy it at any time. It is not a matter of first chasing after the happiness we might one day attain; for if we lack the ability to savour the joy of the present moment, even if we reach what we consider to be the finish line, we will be unable to truly enjoy that happiness.
Happiness is not a reward at the finish line, but a way of moving forward.

It is often said that the great way is simple. But if this ‘simplicity’ were an incredibly simple reality, would you still choose to believe in it?
The purpose of our lives is simply to find contentment and joy, to live a quiet, unassuming life, without seeking excessive material comforts. Rather than calling it a ‘purpose’, it is simply what we ought to strive for: not the pursuit of a career, nor of achievement or status, nor even of love. These are merely by-products; we do not live for them. The key lies in living each day in peace and joy.
Yet to find contentment and joy is, in itself, such a difficult thing to achieve.

No one can really help you unless you let them.

I’ve always felt that letters are the best way to convey one’s feelings; the things we can’t usually say aloud seem to find their rightful place only when written down. The emotions, tone and energy of the moment can all be conveyed to the recipient through the written word.
Speaking of which, it's been a long time since I've written a letter.

I often find myself thinking—if I could live in a small town, with a craft that’s enough to support myself. Maybe I wouldn’t know many people, but there would be one or two neighbours I could talk to. Going out for a walk now and then… how lovely that would be.
To be honest, I really admire Kyoko.
